[edit] Barcelona, etc
Adding planets merely mentioned in the series such as Barcelona could make for one extremely long list... --TimPope 17:00, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)
What are people's thoughts on planets from books, audios etc. I added Polymos, because obviously the Nestene homeworld does exist in the series, even if it wasn't named, and hedged with an "according to...", but I'd be interested to know what people thought about adding, say, Heaven (Love and War).
- In principle, I don't have a problem with this - I'm just wondering, though, if this might be pushing the boundaries of notability a bit. Polymos is probably notable enough, as it was destroyed by the Time Lords in Synthespians, wasn't it? But we should be discriminating. Like Tim says, adding planets merely mentioned in the series could make for a long list... --khaosworks 10:13, July 15, 2005 (UTC)

- Okay, this is just my opinion, but I reckon a planet is worth mentioning if:
-
- 1) A TV story, book or audioplay is actually set there. Or:
-
- 2) It's the homeworld of significant alien race (minor novel characters who might as well be human do not represent significant alien races).
-
- So, yeah, I think Heaven counts. --Dainhid C 23:00 27 Aug 2005 (UTC)
-
-
- I don't see any reason not to make it a long list, properly annotated - we're not being charged by the byte and this can hardly be counted as a comprehensive guide (see the mission statement) if it's only the "important ones." My own addition to the list would be the planet Dust from the later EDAs, tied in substantially with Faction Paradox's intrigues and with the (rather pathetic novel) The Eight Doctors.
-
-
-
- The newest Doctor Who TV episode (Doomsday) brings the importance of the completeness of the list into focus - I'd have never known that Arcadia, mentioned in the episode, was a planet in an NA book had someone else with that knowledge added it earlier tonight. I'd like to see that knowledge generally reflected here, especially with Russel T Davies being so well acquainted with the expanded universe.
-
-
-
- I think it's probably best to list everything and each planet's source - leave it to the reader to decide how canonical the sources they wish to consider. --Melomel 12:30 9 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Woman Wept
TheDoctor10 had removed the description of Woman Wept's frozen seas, saying that he thought that was another planet. I don't think it is. Rose's speech begins, "The Doctor took me to this planet a while back. Much colder than this. They called it Woman Wept..." So when she says, "And we went to this beach..." and talks about the frozen sea, I think that's a continuation of the description of Woman Wept ("much colder than this") rather than discussion of a different planet. —Josiah Rowe (talk • contribs) 22:21, 10 January 2006 (UTC) dogs have no noses there.
[edit] Sontaran Homeworld
Please can someone help with this issue? I am sure that the Sontaran homeworld was referred to in the original series as Sontar. I have partial backing for this belief. The L'Officier guides to Doctor Who refer to Sonar and not Sontara. As they were based on the TV series only this must (?) have been his source. Numerous websites also mention Sontar including ones connected to the BBC. Example: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/onthefuture/A874497 Mallanox 18:02 7 May 2006
- I don't remember whether the Sontaran homeworld was named on-screen or not — I'd have to re-watch the relevant stories to check. However, I wouldn't use the L'Officier guides as a benchmark — Jean-Marc often combined his own suppositions with what was actually seen on-screen, and some of his theories are actually somewhat inaccurate. I've got a lot of affection for [i]The Programme Guide[/i] (it was one of the first bits of [i]Doctor Who[/i]-related merchandise I ever owned), but I wouldn't rely on it for accuracy. —Josiah Rowe (talk • contribs) 01:45, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
-
- I got a citation--In The Time Warrior, the Sontarans are said to be "from the planet Sontar, in the southern spiral arm of the galaxy". Problem Solved. -- P.H. - Kyoukan, UASC 01:48, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Eternity
The Eternals mention that they function in Eternity, as opposed to time, which in their eyes is a very limited domain, so limited that they don't see how a lord of time can exist... so it should fit under Other, like E-space and N-space?
IIRC, the Doctor or the White Guardian mentioned "chronovores", creatures that eat time, fuction in Eternity also.
- The question is whether or not the Eternals are speaking metaphorically or whether Eternity is a literal "place" or simply a larger period of which linear or known time is but a subset. "Time", for example, is not a literal place. The Fourth Doctor himself said, "I'm a Time Lord, I walk in Eternity." Which doesn't mean anything in the end if Eternity is simply a way to talk about the universe/multiverse at large. --khaosworks (talk • contribs) 04:08, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
-
- If it is the greater omniverse/multiverse, then it should be in that section, as it envelopes E-space, N-space and alternate/parallel universe versions of E-space, N-space, etc. 70.51.9.28 11:57, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Pete's world
Sould this not be in 'other'? It is not a planet nor is it in this universe. Thoughts? Me lkjhgfdsa 21:31, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
- A parallel Earth isn't a planet? (note that Alzarius wasn't in this universe either) --khaosworks (talk • contribs) 22:23, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
-
- Hmmm...then perhaps we should add Parallel Earth for the one that the Third Doctor visits in Inferno.... DonQuixote 00:04, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
-
-
- We could, I suppose. My only reservation is what we call it without it being original research (reason I added Pete's World was because the Doctor actually suggests the name). --khaosworks (talk • contribs) 01:29, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

"A parallel Earth isn't a planet?" - I took the word world to mean universe. Me lkjhgfdsa 18:39, 14 July 2006 (UTC) it so is,how about we create a wikifile on dr who's parralel earths with pete's world inferno earth and aslarius
[edit] Planets with the word "The" as part of the title
I've placed The Slough under "S" but thinking about it, as technically "T" is the first word of the planet's title as opposed to just a word to make it grammatically correct, maybe it should be under T? Clockwork Apricot 00:39, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
