I think the comment about people wanting to re-establish Milton county implies that they don't want the money to go to black people. If this is what was meant then a souce stating such should be referenced. If it is not what was meant it should be edited. Any opinions?
I agree. The statement, “The reasoning behind this is that the northern sections of Fulton County are among the most affluent in the state, and residents want to stop tax revenues from going to the poorer (and more heavily black) areas of South Fulton to be spent,” is inflammatory and gives only one side of the issue. The other side is local control. County governments should have relatively uniform concerns of the citizens. North Fulton is more concerned with quality of life while South Fulton is more concerned with poverty. Each should have their own county governments. The state of Georgia should be the entity to shunt tax money to help the poverty issue, not another county.
I also agree. There is a certain bias in the statement and it should be revised.
