Since moves are often interchangable between the different swing dance - how about moving this page to "swing dance moves"? // Habj 10:03, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
I disagree: there are quite clear distinctions made between lindy hop and other swing dances within the swing dance community internationally. 'swing dances' are a broad family of dances from different historical moments during the swing era (30s and 40s) and different local communities. When contemporary swing dancers say 'swing dance' they often include dances which predate the 30s and 40s (such as black bottom, charleston, etc) and dances which postdate this period (such as western swing). I feel it's important to maintain the distinction between different swing dance styles. To conflate them under one umbrella is to ignore their diverse histories and cultural contexts. Having said that, these lindy hop move pages (there are a few of them) could do with some serious tidying up. PlainJane 08:05, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
I would propose a move of this page to "List of lindy hop moves" to conform with other wikipedia lists. Especially if this page will only direct readers to other articles.--Koeppen 12:27, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

- I support the name "List of lindy hop moves" as well. Since pretty much all of the moves on this page already have their own articles, it wouldn't make much sense to describe them in detail here. Since that is the case, this is more of a list than an article, and the renaming would be appropriate. --Cswrye 04:51, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Transwikification of dance moves
I'm in the process of transwikification of most of the dance moves on this list to Wikibooks, as how-to guides (which many of these articles are) are not really appropriate for Wikipedia. With that said, if the verifiable background, history, or significance any moves come to light, please recreate them (with sources)!--Will.i.am 22:26, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
