Talk:List of pottery terms

[edit] Introduction
Nick -- Nice idea. This should make a good article. An introduction is needed, and should include a definition of pottery(.......here we go again!). Should we move some of the pottery term definition to the front or crib bits and pieces from pottery texts? I've got a bunch around here. WBardwin 07:00, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hello WB, it's good to hear from you! If you have a (non-controversial) definition of pottery that would be just fine. I didn't enjoy that last little spat on the pottery article one little bit, it left me feeling rotten about the whole business. Regards, Nick.Nick 10:18, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

- I think some editors make a hobby out of edit wars on important details like definitions -- and they get very good at it. But it is true that clay craftsmen (like me) and people with archaeological training (again, like me) have different definitions of pottery. And, as we've seen, so do chemists, manufacturers and others. I'll try to go with the academic viewpoint and dig into my books. Good to see you too. Thanks for all the work while I've been away. - I've renamed this a "List" and also added quick links to Wiktionary for each word. Goldenrowley 21:45, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
