Talk:List of women novelists before Jane Austen
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I assumed that I could add Eliza Haywood to the list because of the title of this article. I also assumed that Haywood wasn't in that list by Dale Spender mentioned at the article's beginning. I suggest that we expand the list to allow other women novelists some mention. Thoughts? --Susiebowers 03:01, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
- I reckon it's a great idea to expand the list: the introductory sentence should then be updated to explain this. Maybe the ones not in dale spender's original list could also be marked as additions - in that way the list could be both an evolving thing and mark her pathbreaking effort. Yes, sounds good. I will tinker a bit. Let me know what you think. --Susiebowers 21:18, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] On confusing the studiers with the studied
Well, that was embarrassing!
While I am here: any thoughts on the recent reformatting/additions I did? Do the asterisks work, or should we think of something else? scribblingwoman 20:34, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
I like the asterisks, I think they are a good, quick indicator. They will allow an easy way to expand this list without always using brackets or making extraneous notes. --Susiebowers 00:22, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] "Women's literature" as an area of study
(I am posting this message on the discussion pages of several likely articles and lists; sorry for the cross-posting):
I'd like to invite anyone interested in women's writing to read and comment on a draft article, " Women's literature in English." It began in response to the recent removal of " Woman Writers" as a category. It's close to being finished, but a few more eyes would be really helpful. Thanks! scribblingwoman 15:52, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
- Update: I just (finally) submitted the category for review for reinstatement. Fingers crossed. scribblingwoman 15:09, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
