- All four of these were in the second half of the 20th century, after a history of at least 1400 years of pastoral use, drastically revised, changed and new editions of them were promulgated. A new breviary was promulgated by Pope Pius XII; a revised Missal (1970) and new Pontifical (1968) by Pope Paul VI and new revised editions of the Ritual by popes Paul VI and John Paul II.
While the books were revised during that time, "drastically" is debatable. If these revisions are to be mentioned, this article should mention all the other changes and revisions through the centuries, and the history of other liturgical books besides these four. Gimmetrow 15:44, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
