[edit] Album information
After having the best-selling Francophone album of all times, Céline Dion released a live CD which contained ten out of twelve songs from D'eux. They were recorded during the D'eux Tour. Dion included also a few big hits in English: "The Power of Love" (#1 in U.S., Canada, Australia) and "To Love You More" (#1 in Japan). The last one was a bonus studio recording. Three songs were already performed on her previous live album À l'Olympia: "The Power of Love," "Quand on N'A Que l'Amour" and "Ziggy (Un Garçon Pas Comme Les Autres)."
The disc does not contain the full show. All songs can be found on the Live à Paris home video, released also in 1996.
Live à Paris won a Juno Award and two Félix Awards in 1997.
[edit] Chart success
Live à Paris followed the successful D'eux and topped the charts in France, Belgium and Switzerland, selling over two million copies in Europe and four million in total. On November 1, 1996, Céline Dion wrote a new page in the record book of French music industry: she became the very first artist to have three of her albums in the French Top 20. That week, Live à Paris entered the chart on top position (her 3rd #1 album in France this year), while Falling into You (seven months after it entered the chart) was still at the 6th position and D'eux was still in 16th position (a year and a half after its release).
It was promoted at the end of 1996 by two radio singles: "Les Derniers Seront Les Premiers" (Europe, Canada) and "To Love You More" (Canada). In June 1997 (eight months after the album's debut), Sony Music decided to release commercially two singles: "J'Attendais" in France (#46) and "Je Sais Pas" in the Netherlands (#78).
