London Buses route 114 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, United Kingdom. The service is currently contracted to Transdev London.
[edit] History
Route 114 is a very old route, The route has been changed a lot; It once ran from Rayners via the current 258, 340 and H10 and terminate at Edgware Station. It was rerouted to Ruislip Lido in 1966.
In 1987 the Ruislip & Ruislip Station section was discounted and replaced by the new H13.
The 114 swapped eastern ends with the 140 and now the route runs from Mill Hill Broadway Station to Ruislip Station.
The 114 has been with BTS (Borehamwood Travel Services), one of London Transport's low cost operators, since 1991. BTS was bought by Sovereign using the Leyland Olympians in orange livery. The vehicles were later repainted with Soverign's new blue and cream livery.
But when all the vehicles where completely repainted, they were sent to Yorkshire and replaced by the 60's DAF DB250LF's because when Connex gained a new contract for the 60, Connex preffered there own buses and so the 114 was suitable for them.
But their wasn't enough to go around, the problem was solved when London United gained a partnership with Sovereign; because London United was experimenting with Volvo B7TL 10.6m / East Lancs Vyking.
Although 19 buses were ordered, only 13 arrived the other 6 was given to the 148 for a frequency increase. The reason for this was because the 6 was going to be Scania's with East Lancs bodywork but Shepherd's Bush didn't want a third type and so they were delivered to Edgware instead.
