London Buses route 297 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, United Kingdom. The service is currently contracted to Metroline.
[edit] History
Route 297 was created to replace the withdrawn section of route 46 between Willesden Bus garage & Perivale and later it also replaced route 8 to Willesden via Wembley Trading Estate making route 297 into some sort of circular route. The Wembley Trading Estate section of route 297, was withdrawn and replaced by route 92 and was later extended to Ealing Broadway replacing route 65.
Route 297 had accommodation problems between Centwest's Alperton garage and Metroline's Willesden garage. Finally the route was moved into Metroline's new Perivale garage to allow route 460 to move into Willesden (AV).
When First London losed its contract for route W8 to Metroline, the route was being converted to single deck, so they needed 297's Dennis Dart SLF 10.2m/Plaxton Pointer (DLD) and 297 temporarily gained Dennis Trident 2 9.9m/Plaxton President (TP). The two routes swapped buses once again, converting route W8 into double deckers and the 297 back into single deckers.
In 2003 the route was converted back into double deckers using new TP's and this time for a permanent fixture.
