Long Island Lutheran Middle and High School is a Lutheran college prep school in Brookville, New York. Founded in 1960, Long Island Lutheran serves 600 children in grades 6 through 12. It is recognized as a school of excellence in 1977 by the U.S. Department of Education.
Also known as LuHi, the school features many extracurricular activities with 14 Middle School sports and 17 High school sports. It also has 15 middle school clubs and 26 High School clubs. The school's newspaper is called Charger and their literary magazine is called Essence. Recently, another paper deemed "underground", called The Illuminator has surfaced. The Illuminator reports on various topics such as LuHi life to objections to Wal-Mart. Many members of the student body are part of the National Honor Society.
LuHi is located on a 32-acre campus in Brookville, New York. As of the start of the 2006-2007 school year, Mr. Andrew Gove formally of Baltimore Lutheran has taken the office of Vice Principle.
