Loquo
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Loquo is a network of local online classifieds and community websites in the Spain, similar to Craigslist in the US. The main categories are housing, goods for sale, community, personals, jobs, business services, local events and community discussion forums.
[edit] History
Loquo.com was started in Barcelona in 2002 by Ubaldo Huerta and Lissette Lemus as a community site designed to connect people who were either planning to move, or had just arrived to Barcelona, and needed help getting started with accommodation, employment and meeting new friends.
Since the beginning, openness and community participation have been guiding principles to include new categories and expand to new cities. In 2004 a vacation rentals site for Spain was launched. Loquo.com is now Barcelona's largest flatshare site, and it continues to quickly expand to the rest of Spain. In June 2006 it was present in more than 25 Spanish cities and received almost 3 million unique visitors. All listings are free.
Loquo was acquired by eBay in May 2005 for an undisclosed sum.
