The Cavaliers have captured Group AA state championships in women's basketball and men's golf and a Group II title (pre-1970 VHSL classification) in men's track. [edit] The LBHS Marching Cavaliers
The Lord Botetourt High School Marching Cavalier Band is a show and competition program consisting of around 60 members. The Marching Cavaliers have competed in many competitions (both in and out of state) and have claimed several championship/1st place titles at places such as the Tunstall High School Trojan Invitiational in Dry Fork, VA and the Marshall University Tri-State Marching Band Competition in Huntington, WV.
[edit] The LBHS Colorguard and Winterguard
The Lord Botetourt High School Colorguard and Winterguard is an indoor and outdoor color guard activity, derived from the outdoor summer activity that is commonly part of marching band or drum corps. Unlike colorguard, which performs outdoors on a football field (is part of a marching band), winterguard is performed indoors, usually in a gym or indoor arena. Also, there is no band involved. A winterguard team performs using dance, acrobatic features, and most of all, with various pieces of equipment. While guard equipment can vary from anything to everything, flags, rifles, and sabres are the main pieces of equipment. Guard members toss, spin, and do much more with their equipment, which can change throughout their show. [1]
