Lorenai was a turn-based fantasy play-by-email wargame created by Jiri Klouda, partly as a class assignment in university. It was based on the largely modified rules of Atlantis, but with no reference to the actual Atlantis code. The world map was largely based on Tolkien.
The end of the game was announced after the 106th turn. The game started in 1997 and the last turn was on June 30th 2000. During this time there were 1200 unique players, 600 of them still active at the end.
The source code for Lorenai is freely available under the GPL license from SourceForge as project Lorenai. Rules, client programs and various game master tools are also provided.
