Talk:Lord Chamberlain
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Based on ODNB entries, it would appear that our list for the early Tudor period, at least, is actually the list of great masters of the household, rather than Lord Chamberlains. The ODNB article on William Paulet, 1st Marquess of Winchester, here listed as Lord Chamberlain from 1535 to 1550, indicates that he was actually Great Master of the Household. The article on Henry Fitzalan, Earl of Arundel, indicates that Arundel was the actual Lord Chamberlain for the last years of Henry and the early years of Edward VI. I'm not sure how to deal with this... john k 05:48, 17 November 2005 (UTC)

- I believe it derives from Haydn's Book of Dignities. john k 07:37, 22 November 2005 (UTC)

- I would say the ODNB, which seems to know what it's talking about. john k 18:03, 5 December 2005 (UTC)

This BBC News article mentions a Lord Chamberlain in Tonga. Since this article already has mention of a Danish equivalent, the article should be disambiguated to "Lord Chamberlain (UK)", as is the Wikipedia custom, so that positions of this name in other countries can be covered in their own articles. 86.136.215.124 22:41, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
