Louis Nicolas Philippe Auguste de Forbin

Louis Nicolas Philippe Auguste de Forbin (Bouches-du-Rhône, 1779 -Paris,1841) was a French painter.
He was in Lyon during the National Convention, he saw how his father and uncle died and was picked up by the designer from Lyon , Boissieu, who introduced and encouraged him to work in his art. He joined the army and was soon decorated. He took some time later to work in his art and visited Italy where he became princess Borghese's protégé.
He was appointed general director of museums in Bourbon Restoration and enlarged Louvre and Luxembourg.
His Portefeuille was published in 1843.
