Lower Broughton
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lower Broughton is a district of Salford, Greater Manchester, England. It is about one mile northwest of Manchester city centre. It is on the north bank of the River Irwell which separates it from the Blackfriars area of Salford. Currently it is a deprived inner city neighbourhood with the resultant problems of crime and poverty, although during 2005/6 there has been plenty of government money made available to improve the area. The area is seen to be the next place ripe for commuters to live due to its proximity to Manchester city centre.[citation needed]
