Lower Silesian Voivodeship (also "Lower Silesia Province" — Polish: województwo dolnośląskie) is a voivodeship, or province, with its capital at Wrocław, on the middle Odra River, in southwestern Poland. It comprises Lower Silesia, the northwestern part of the historic and geographic region of Silesia.
The province was created January 1, 1999, out of the former Wrocław, Legnica, Wałbrzych and Jelenia Góra Voivodeships, pursuant to the 1998 Local Government Reorganization Act.

[edit] Tourism
Most tourists visit the famous ski resorts in Karkonosze mountains with its centres Szklarska Poręba and Karpacz. The cities of Wrocław, Jelenia Góra and Legnica also are famous for visitors. Town of Kudowa Zdroj, located in the Sudety Mountains, about 50 km west of Kłodzko, by the Czech border is a very well known resort in Europe, popular with tourists with heart problems. Kudowa's origin goes back to the 15th century.
