[edit] On the maps...
Thanks. I knew someone was going to notice. I was working on a map for U.S. 42 or something and was zoomed in to state level and the dark blue detracted from the quality of the image. So I changed it to the light blue and thought it looked aesthetically pleasing so I did the rest that way. If I get around to it, I might fix the first 30 or so I did to the lighter blue. My initial designs used the color schemes of the maps created for the Interstate project since I wanted it to be somewhat consistent.
The software I use is ArcMap, part of the ArcGIS suite. It's about $1500 to buy. I have access to the software at my university since I'm in the GIS program. I didn't look around for cheaper/free alternatives since I was already familiar with ArcMap and knew it'd do what I wanted, so it might be worth looking into. Stratosphere 02:16, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] I-88 Exit #44
Perhaps in these cases notes should be made on which cities appear on the signage (if any) as a Control City, and what cities they are actually near - Joliet IS a bit silly, but if it's on the official signage.... And no, gas is a little too high right now for me to want to go check it out on my own.... --JohnDBuell 00:58, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
- Okay, so that's the proof. Hm. Is there any explanation of "Control Cities" to link to so that other people don't make the same mistake and think we can't read maps when Joliet is as far away as it is? :) --JohnDBuell 01:09, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Illinois Interstate photographs
Do we have any photographs that have become available for current signage? I ask because I know that if you take 290 into I-88 eastbound, there's a "Ronald Reagan Memorial Tollway" sign up just past the York Road Toll Plaza. And I also discovered a couple of months ago that some "East-West" signage IS still up westbound between DeKalb and North Aurora.... Aside from the dangers involved in getting a car pulled over in heavy tollway traffic, or the IL State Police perhaps not buying the fact that one has stopped to photograph signage for the web, are you aware of any difficulties in getting photos? --JohnDBuell 05:35, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Contentless sections.
I feel that contentless sections look awful, as in the "States traverced by ... road" section. A list or a table is less bad. Sections should have at least 1 paragraph. more usually at least 3. Zeimusu | Talk page 09:33, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] IL State Route WP userbox
I took the liberty of cleaning up your userbox for the IL State Routes WP. I have found that leaving the template variables in the box has caused problems when being created (especially when one uses variable customization.)
I also added the same customization functionality that exists on the Interstate and US Highway userboxes. That way users can select a favorite route # if they don't like route 19 :-) --master_sonLets talk 01:54, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] License tagging for Image:Illinois Route 171 at U.S. Routes 12-20-45.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Illinois Route 171 at U.S. Routes 12-20-45.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 10:58, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Amstutz Expressway
I noticed the "Start-class" template on the talk page of this article, but no assessment comments were added. Being that this expressway is just shy of 3 miles in length, I'm not quite sure what else could be added to make the article better. Comments please... — Homefryes Say•Do 15:30, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

For cleaning up Peoria, Illinois!
I restructured it a while back (couple of months) but I am always amazed at how little I know about good writing form. Sorry I forgot to sign earlier. George 21:31, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] WikiProject U.S. Roads/Assessment/Requests
This is up for deletion at AFD, but I suspect you just missed the Wikipedia: from the front when creating it. Do you want to move it, and then we can close the AFD? Yomanganitalk 20:08, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] I-74
I don't like splitting articles into more than need be, but with the way roads are built nowadays, we'll have two separate interstates for a long time. I do see your arguing on it. My idea though, is what if we could make a double-routebox? Basically, one routebox, then another (in the same template) right below it, starting with a map, then all the rest. That would help articles like I-74 and I-66 a lot. I don't know how to get to the source code for the routebox, though. That's just my idea. --MPD01605 (T / C) 15:54, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Highway assessment code on non-articles
Hi; you seem to be the author of the code I was querying here, which is causing very strange-looking category redlinks when used on stub category pages. You may wish to comment on my suggested fix, which I've already implemented on one such. Alai 20:24, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
- It was, but that's the one I've changed. See Cat:Washington state highway stubs (and several of its siblings) for an on-going occurrence. Alai 21:25, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
I've now removed the problem code from all of the obviously-affected templates, and from the "template template" on Wikipedia:WikiProject U.S. Roads/Assessment. Alai 20:14, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Interstate 94A
Just to let you know, I removed the speedy tag you placed on Interstate 94A; this article is unsourced, but that's not a valid reason for speedy deletion. if you think this is really a hoax, please bring the article to WP:AFD. Thanks! --- Deville (Talk) 03:18, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Interstate 94 in Illinois
I created this article as part of the effort to clean up the ever-so-ugly main I-94 article. Whoever created the I-94 Interchanges page didn't read the standards well. I understand that nearly all of the I-94 article in Illinois is pretty much covered by various Chicagoland expressways - but may I suggest having this as at least a disambiguation page to branch off to those articles? It has the "Lane configurations" section from the parent page currently - but if it's redundant, do whatever you wish with that. I saw no exit list (it could use one - on the expressway articles if not already there ;)) so nothing was placed yet. Let me know if there are any problems k thx • master_sonLets talk 22:06, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
- I hear you there - I can see it happening that way - I also created the Wisconsin subarticle as well. I hope to get all of the lists removed from the ugly page so that it can be deleted. but that means 5 more states (well Indiana should be easy though ;) - it's half Borman expressway) I'll tackle MN, ND and MT - They all have exit lists - that need to be redone to WP:IH standards. • master_sonLets talk 00:04, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
- hmmmm - keep in mind that I-94 uses part of the Tri-State Tollway too. This might work with the Kingery pointing to I-94, (same with the Ford, Ryan, Kennedy and Edens I assume) but we already have I-94 exits for the tollway and the Edens spur on that particular article. • master_sonLets talk 19:55, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
- keep in mind that we will run into the same scenario when I-90's exit lists come into play (NW tollway, Kennedy, Ryan, Skyway). • master_sonLets talk 19:55, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Well, formally you're right. Actually I have not strong vews on it, so if you want to rv, you can. The problem is however that the author generally disapproves the use of through ;-) Shall we follow? Just a thought. Best, --Beaumont (@) 23:39, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

- Thanks for contributing to CHICOTW. I had wondered why there was no Lake Michigan Circle Tour article. I think this would be a great article. I am not familiar with the details of the section of 41 you are talking about, however. Note, in the nom policies we attempt to have 3 nominees. So I moved your nominee to the following week. TonyTheTiger 11:56, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
P.S. I noticed that your nomination has not been added to the appropriate locations on the WP Chicago page. Please read the short 3rd paragraph in the section at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Chicago/COTW#Nominations regarding this issue. Over time, this will help minimize the amount of cleanup I have to do if everyone handles this task themselves. TonyTheTiger 19:01, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] I-290
The whole editing of the PR suggestions list is utterly incomprehensible to me, so I'll just post here. Could you add some "general area" geographical markers? The description of where parts start and end is only useful to someone who lives in Chicago. How about "east side of Chicago downtown running north" or something like that?
