Lucius D. Clay Jr.

General Lucius DuBignon Clay Jr. (July 6, 1919-February 7, 1994) was an American military leader who held the positions of commander-in-chief of the North American Air Defense Command, the Continental Air Defense Command, and the United States element of NORAD, and was also a commander of the United States Air Force Aerospace Defense Command.
Born in Alexandria, Virginia, his father was Lucius D. Clay. He graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1942, then served in World War II in a bomber squadron in Germany. Her returned to the US in 1947, later serving at The Pentagon prior to his positions in the Air Defense Command.
Clay died at the military retirement community at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. [1]
