Dr. Johnson received his BA from Notre Dame Seminary in 1967, his MDiv from Saint Meinrad School of Theology in 1970 and his PhD from Yale in 1976. Dr. Johnson spent time as a monk before marrying and entering secular life as a teacher.
Dr. Johnson often lectures at universities and seminaries worldwide, where is widely perceived as the leading conservative scholar on the debates surrounding the Jesus Seminar, often taking stances against Burton Mack, Robert Funk and John Dominic Crossan. He attempts to set out more balanced and critical observations on this hotly debated topic, placing the search for an Historical Jesus back into the realm of tradition, experience and belief rather than sheer reason and history.
