M3 MAAWS

The M3 MAAWS is the US designated name of the Carl Gustav M3, a Swedish-made recoilless rifle. The M3 is used by the United States Army and is still in service today. It is primarily used by the USSOCOM forces such as the U.S. Army Special Forces -Green Berets, 75th Ranger Regiment, U.S. Navy SEALS, Delta Force, and DEVGRU (former SEAL Team 6). This weapon fires several types of 84mm rounds:[1]
- High Explosive Dual Purpose (HEDP) round
- High Explosive Anti-Tank (HEAT) round
- High Explosive (HE) round
- Illumination round
- Smoke round
- Area Defence Munition (ADM) flechette round
The weapon system is developed by Saab Bofors Dynamics and is also in service with the Swedish Army as the Carl-Gustaf M3.
Multiple training rounds are also available in sub-caliber munitions.
This weapon system can also be fitted with multiple day and night sights for enhanced targeting.
