M.A.B. Paints is a regional manufacturer of architectural, commercial and industrial coatings for the professional and do-it-yourself markets. Founded in 1899 in South Philadelphia by Michael A. Bruder, M.A.B. Paints has since grown to over 230 stores in 17 states. Since 1967, the privately owned company, has been run by Thomas A. Bruder.
M.A.B. Paints is well known throughout the Philadelphia metropolitan area because of catchy marketing jingles, the Make America Beautiful Campaign, and their sponsorship of the local professional/amateur sports teams and charities.
The company's service motto is "On Time As Promised, Or We Pay". You can find this service motto displayed in all stores, on business cards and all M.A.B. facilities.

MAB Paints, a 108-year-old family-run company, is to be purchased by rival Sherwin-Williams under a deal announced by both companies.
M.A. Bruder & Sons Inc. has about 35 percent of the Philadelphia-area paint market and large operations in Florida, Missouri and Indiana. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
MAB reports $146 million in annual sales and runs 132 stores nationwide, 76 in the Philadelphia area. The company has its headquarters in suburban Broomall and a plant in Philadelphia.
The Sherwin-Williams Co., based in Cleveland, reported 2006 sales of $7.8 billion. It operates 3,046 Sherwin-Williams stores and also markets the Dutch Boy brand.
Jim Renshaw, MAB Paints general manager, said Monday that the three Bruder brothers are in their 60s and 70s and no family member was making a strong push to succeed them. The brothers are grandsons of founder Michael Bruder, who began with a single Philadelphia store in 1899.
MAB employees were told about the sale Monday and "it was pretty much a shock," Renshaw said. "The company was doing relatively well."
The deal, which is expected to close in the second quarter, likely will face scrutiny from federal regulators because Sherwin-Williams is one of MAB's main competitors in the Philadelphia area.
Sherwin-Williams has not disclosed its plans for MAB employees, Renshaw said. MAB has a work force of 730 nationwide, with half of those in Philadelphia.
"I know they want to keep the brand. ... We're as big as anybody in the marketplace," Renshaw said. The closest Sherwin-Williams plant is in Baltimore, he said.
MAB customers would be served by the company's existing stores and plants, Christopher Connor, Sherwin-Williams' chairman and chief executive officer, said in a statement.
