Macrianus
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Macrianus was a powerful chief of the Alamannic tribes in Germany. In 374 the Roman Emperor of the West, Valentinian I, was forced to make peace with him. He was treated with the utmost respect and the peace he concluded with Rome was honoured until his death. He was killed on campaign against the Franks, in an ambush laid by their king Mallobaudes.
