Macy's Florida, Miami, Florida, is a division of Federated Department Stores. It is the successor to the Burdines Department Store founded in 1898 in Miami and to Maas Brothers founded in Tampa, Florida in 1886, which had previously been merged into Burdines in 1991.
Macy's Florida currently operates sixty-one stores solely in the state of Florida. As part of a national re-branding program, Burdines first became Burdines-Macy's on January 30, 2004, following which on March 6, 2005, the Burdines name was eliminated altogether, with the stores renamed as the Macy's Florida division of Federated. Although all of the stores were renamed Macy's, many still retain the original style of Burdines, which was long known as "The Florida Store".
