From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Magabe Kibiti is a columnist currently residing in the United States of America. His articles are mostly about issues and lives of people in third world countries - especially African countries. Magabe grew up in one of then - socialist countries in Africa - Tanzania. He also has a first hand experience of "the nineties revolution" which forced most if not all African countries to abandon socialism completely for the promising capitalism.
Magabe has referred to himself as an economist in his articles, even as he always write about politics, religion, and social issues. Most of his articles are available through websites like www.bongotz.com, www.theafricanstandard.com, www.darhotwire.com, etc. Some people who consider themselves socialist Africans have condemned his writings and articles. Magabe would rather call himself 'a humanist' even as most of his articles tend to favor capitalism over socialism.
As an economics student, Magabe is on his way to become one of the new generation Africans who are ready to move up their continent to the higher level of development. Among other things, Magabe has spoken against corruption, misuse of foreign aid, conflicts and wars, etc. Magabe has also written against the use of religion for social and political gains in Africa. Magabe would like to see more Africans in the "middle class" so that the world economy can benefit from this continent of more than 700 million people.
