Magic Lantern (theater)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Magic Lantern is a movie theater in Bridgton, Maine. It was demolished due to a sinkhole located on-site, and is being rebuilt. It will open by Thanksgiving 2007.
[edit] Original Magic Lantern
The original Magic Lantern was once called the Brookside Theater. When the ownership changed hands to the Howell family, the name was changed. The original building also housed Down East, Inc., owners of the theater. When the theater was demolished, a new building for the company was constructed behind the theater site. The theater had an old, Victorian-style lobby. There were two theaters, one with Dolby Digital surround sound.
[edit] New Magic Lantern
The new Magic Lantern officially began construction March 1, 2007. It will feature four screens and a café. One of the screens will feature a stage, and will be used for performances.
