Mahershalalhashbaz Ali, born Mahershalalhashbaz Gilmore on February 16, 1974, in Oakland, California, is an American actor currently cast as Richard Tyler on The 4400.
Ali's unique name is derived from the Biblical book of Isaiah 8:1-3, where the name is usually given as "Maher-shalal-hash-baz." It is Hebrew for "To speed to the spoil, he hasteneth the prey" and is thought to be the longest given name in the Bible.
