Malcolm Christie (born April 11, 1979 in Stamford) is an English football player. He currently plays for Middlesbrough in the English Premiership as a centre forward.
Christie started his career at Deeping Rangers before moving to another non-league club Nuneaton Borough. Whilst playing non-league football he was also a supermarket shelfstacker. Christie's big break came in 1998 when Derby County manager Jim Smith purchased him from Nuneaton Borough.
Christie played childrens football in the Peterborough area excelling in particular for Northborough FC.
By 2000, Christie had established himself as a first team player At Derby County. He spent one more season with Derby after they were relegated from the FA Premier League before Middlesbrough signed him for £1.5 million in January 2003. His chances however have been limited at his new club due to several long term injuries.
In 2006 Christie was invited back to his former club Nuneaton Borough as guest of honour for their FA Cup 3rd Round tie against Middlesbrough. However Christie was unable to play due to injury. Nuneaton went on to shock their visitors by producing a 1-1 draw, and earning a replay at the Riverside Stadium.
After a long lay off from football due to serious injuries, he is now pushing for a first team place in the Middlesbrough team. On November 25, 2006, Boro boss Gareth Southgate gave Christie a start against Aston Villa at Villa Park. Christie scored on his return in the 43rd minute in a match which finished 1-1.
