Malcolm Hooper is a British biochemist and Emeritus Professor of medicinal chemistry at the University of Sunderland.

Professor Hooper is a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry, the British Pharmacological Society and the Society for Medicines Research.

Malcolm Hooper is Chief Scientific Advisor to British veterans with Gulf War Syndrome (GWS).

Hooper served on the General Synod of the Church of England between 1970 and 1980 and he continues to be a Christian lay preacher.
