Maldegem is a municipality located in the Belgian province of East Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Adegem, Kleit, Donk, Maldegem proper and Middelburg. On January 1st, 2006 Maldegem had a total population of 22,289. The total area is 94.64 km² which gives a population density of 236 inhabitants per km².
