Managed Money

Managed Money (1934) is a short comedy film starring Frank Coghlan Jr. and Shirley Temple. It was directed by Charles Lamont and was released on February 25, 1934. It was also known as Frolics of Youth and Measured Money. This was the second film in which Temple starred as Mary Lou.

Sonny (Coghlan) discovers that his friend Sid is planning to enroll in a military academy and wants to go there along with him. However, Sonny's father cannot pay for it. So Sid and Sonny go out into the desert to prospect for gold, while Sonny's sister, Mary Lou has stowed away in the trunk of the car. Meanwhile, they discover a man (Harry Myers) who has enough money to send them to college. They discover him after laboratory explosion sends him flying through the roof of their house. His discovery enables Sonny to obtain enough money to attend the military academy.
