Mangueshi Temple

This temple is located at Priol (1 kilometer from Mardol close to Nagueshi), in Goa, India and is dedicated to Lord Mangueshi who was an incarnation of Shiva. The temple of Shree Mangueshi was shifted to the kingdom of the Sonde Rajas in Antruz mahal(Ponda) across the Agranashini (Zuari) river to escape destruction at the hands of the Portuguese. The original temple was at KushasthaliCortalim,Saxty(Salcette), Goa. Goan Hindus who reside in Goa and beyond and other Saraswats who originate from Goa have great reverence for Lord Mangueshi. He is also referred to as Saib (The Lord of Goa) by Hindus.
The main hall is known for wooden carvings of eighteen avataars of Vishnu.
