The scene in which the Wicked Witch is introduced in the film is arguably one of the key scenes in The Wizard of Oz and the image is also used to illustrate the actress Margaret Hamilton in the role. The impact of the character and the performance depend heavily on the appearance of the character so to illustrate this, it is considered necessary to show it, rather than attempt to describe it.
