Marcos Yáñez Fernández, popularly known as Changui, is a Spain football player born April 10, 1977 in Boiro, A Coruña. During the second half of the nineties he was one of the most prominent Galician strikers.
[edit] Xanthi scandal
Changui's step to elite football was a failure, and was successively loaned to Second Division teams in which his career began to decline. Finally he was loaned to Greek team Xanthi Skoda in August 2005.
Some months later Changui came back to Spain, being subjected to no sportive discipline; when Deportivo de La Coruña's directive knew about it, disciplinary proceedings were brought against him. Changui was summoned by the club for March 8, 2006 but he didn't appear, sending instead his agent, who stated that he didn't know about Changui's departure from Xanthi until the club started proceedings.
Finally, Deportivo de La Coruña cancelled Changui's contract on May 6; the striker reacted demanding the club, but the court approved his dismissal. Next summer Changui signed for CF Extremadura.
