Marjorie Rendell

Marjorie ("Midge") Osterlund Rendell is a federal judge in Pennsylvania. She was born in Wilmington, Delaware where her father was employed as a Dupont executive and where she attended Ursuline Academy as a young girl.
She has been the First Lady of the state of Pennsylvania since January 21, 2003. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Juris Doctor from Villanova University Law School, she practiced as an attorney for twenty years as a partner in the Philadelphia firm of Duane, Morris & Heckscher.
In 1994 she was appointed by President Clinton to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. In 1997 she was once again nominated by President Clinton, this time for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit where she continues to serve as an appellate judge today. She is also a trustee of the University of Pennsylvania.
In 1993, she founded and managed Avenue of the Arts, Inc., whose purpose was to develop Philadelphia's Broad Street into a world-class artistic venue.
In 1971, she married Ed Rendell, who is the current Governor of Pennsylvania. They have one son, Jesse, a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and bassist for the defunct southern New Jersey band Don't Look Down.
