Mark Georgy

Mark Georgy is a notable musician who resides and performs in Cairo, Egypt. His instrument of choice is percussion, and he is known to use a variety of objects to create percussion sounds (such as pots, pans and bins). His unique style has been dubbed by fans as "georgy acid jazz," or just "georgy," for short. He began experimenting with music and sounds at a very young age, and he was a "sensitive, intelligent child." However, after being involved in a car accident that killed his brother Andrew, he lost some mobility in his legs. His debut album, "The Sounds of Awesome," dominated the #1 position of the Egyptian charts for a period of ten weeks, setting an unprecedented record and propelling him to a level of stardom he had never experienced. He toured with the album for several months, until succumbing to alcohol poisoning one night after a gig. He almost died that night; however, his stomach was pumped and he survived. He describes the night as "a horror." He is currently working on his second album.
