Mark Gordon Robins, born December 22, 1969 in Ashton Under Lyne, Lancashire is a former English football player. He was a striker. He is currently caretaker manager at Rotherham United.
Mark started his career in the Manchester United youth system. In 1990, he scored one of the most important goals in United history when he scored the winning goal in an FA Cup game against Nottingham Forest. Manager Alex Ferguson's job was reportedly on the line. United went on to win the Cup that year (Robins scored the winner in the semi-final replay against Oldham Athletic at Maine Road) and Ferguson went to on to attain much success. Mark would score 17 goals in his United career.
Robins left Old Trafford for Norwich City for a fee of £800,000 where he played an important role in some of the club's greatest successes. His career there started with a bang - his 2 goals helping Norwich defeat Arsenal at Highbury on the opening day of the first ever Premier League season, and his goals during that 1992-93 season helped the club qualify for Europe for the first time. His 1993-94 season was interrupted by a serious injury and he left the club in 1995 after falling out with City manager John Deehan.
Mark has also played for Leicester City, F.C. Copenhagen, Reading F.C., CD Ourense, Panionios, Manchester City, Walsall, Rotherham United, Bristol City, Sheffield Wednesday and Burton Albion.
He is now taking the first steps in a coaching career at Rotherham United, and was named the Millers' caretaker manager on March 1, 2007, following Alan Knill's dismissal.
