Marquess of Linlithgow

The title Marquess of Linlithgow was created in the Peerage of the United Kingdom in 1902 for the 7th Earl of Hopetoun, the first Governor-General of Australia. His son would later serve as Viceroy of India.
Lord Linlithgow holds the subsidiary titles Earl of Hopetoun (Scotland, 1703), Viscount of Aithrie (Scotland, 1703), Lord Hope (Scotland, 1703), Baron Hopetoun, of Hopetoun in the County of Linlithgow (UK, 1809), and Baron Niddry, of Niddry in the County of Linlithgow (UK, 1814). He is also a Baronet of Nova Scotia, styled "of Kirkliston". The family seat is Hopetoun House.
