Martini (vermouth)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
MARTINI is a brand of Italian vermouth, named after the Martini & Rossi Distilleria Nazionale da Spirito de Vino, in Turin.
From within the Distilleria emerged Alessandro Martini, Luigi Rossi and Teofilo Sola. They changed the company name to Martini, Sola & Cia in 1863 and it was in 1879 that the Sola family sold its interests to the remaining partners who renamed the company Martini & Rossi, as it stands today.

[edit] MARTINI - Pessione
Martini & Rossi production started in 1863 in Turin, the regional capital of Piedmont. In 1864, under the guide of Luigi Rossi, the production was moved to a new site in Pessione, located about 25km from Turin. The choice of the new location was also due to its strategic position in proximity to the railway line Turin-Asti-Genoa and also near the wine hills and wine suppliers.
Today, MARTINI's Pessione production plant covers an area of over 16,000 square metres. The daily working activity at the MARTINI Pessione plant, which includes warehouses, cellars and bottling lines, assures a yearly production of approximately 11 million cases. The majority of this is MARTINI Vermouth, as well as Sparkling Wines, including Asti and Liquors. MARTINI is exported to more than 120 countries around the world.
