Marvel Age
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Marvel Age is an imprint of Marvel Comics intended for younger audiences, including children, established in 2003. It succeeded the failed Tsunami imprint. All Marvel Age titles are collected in the smaller digest-sized format rather than the standard American comic book size format they were originally published in. Unlike the standard comics Marvel publishes which take place in story arcs spanning several issues, each Marvel Age comic is a standalone.
In 2005 the imprint became Marvel Adventures, with Marvel Age Spider-Man and Marvel Age Fantastic Four being restarted as Marvel Adventures Spider-Man and Marvel Adventures Fantastic Four and a four issue mini-series, Marvel Adventures The Thing, being released. The other titles that were not part of the Marvel Age continuity, including Emma Frost, Runaways, Mary Jane and Spider-Girl, were excluded from the new imprint (the individual issues of Emma Frost, Runaways and Spider-Girl had never used the Marvel Age trade dress anyway).

[edit] Marvel Age/Marvel Adventures continuities
Under the Marvel Age imprint, the Spider-Man and Fantastic Four titles were initially based on scripts Stan Lee wrote back in the 1960s, but after the relaunch as Marvel Adventures, they began telling original stories. The titles each have their own, loose, continuity, but are not set in a "Universe" as with the Marvel Universe or Ultimate Marvel Universe.
- Marvel Adventures The Thing
- Marvel Age Fantastic Four, which became Marvel Age Fantastic Four Tales (for one issue), then Marvel Adventures Fantastic Four
- Marvel Age Hulk
- Marvel Age Spider-Man, which became Marvel Adventures Spider-Man, Currently written by Sean McKeever.
- Marvel Age Spider-Man Team-Up
- Marvel Adventures: The Avengers
Though the modern series of Power Pack miniseries were not initially presented as part of the Marvel Age/Adventures imprint, they are now considered to be part of the Marvel Adventures line:
- Power Pack (2005)
- X-Men & Power Pack (2005)
- Avengers & Power Pack: Assemble (2006)
- Spider-Man & Power Pack (2006-2007)
- Hulk & Power Pack (debuted March 2007, currently ongoing)

[edit] 1980s Marvel Age
Marvel Age was also the title of a promotional comic book-sized magazine from Marvel Comics in the 1980s. It contained previews of upcoming Marvel comics, as well as interviews with comics professionals and other features. Its US$0.25-0.35 cover price was much cheaper than regular Marvel comics of the era.
