Talk:Marie-Madeleine Pioche de la Vergne, comtesse de la Fayette
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The image of the "Zaide" title page reads, roughly translated: "Zaide, [a] Spanish story, by Monsieur de Segrais, with a discussion of the origin of novels, by Monsieur Huet" This accords with the article saying that Zaide was signed by Segrais, and with the mention a little after this of the preface by Huet. [edit] Rename?
The Google test gives 44,000 results for "Madame de la Fayette" but only 14,000 results for the name in this article title. Durova 01:43, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
- But "Marie-Madeleine Pioche de la Vergne, comtesse de la Fayette" is so fun to say! :-) Yes, going by Wikipedia:Manual of Style (biographies) the article title should be the most common name, which is definitely "Madame de la Fayette". There should obviously be a redirect from Marie-Madeleine etc, though, and the same guidelines suggest that "the subject's full name should be given in the lead paragraph". I won't do the rename myself though as I don't know how and don't want to make a hash of it. :-) --Zeborah 08:19, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
