Marc Gustafson was born in Jacksonville, Florida on October 11, 1977. At age 19, Gustafson became one of the youngest Americans to captain a sailboat around the world. Gustafson's voyage took two and a half years. Before departure, Gustafson and partner, Heather Halstead, co-founded the non-profit organization, Reach the World. Today, Reach the World serves over 100 schools in New York City and Chicago. Gustafson graduated summa cum laude from New York University and was a recipient of the Marshall Scholarship. In 2007, Gustafson will be studying at the University of Oxford.
