Mathare United is an Kenyan football club based in Mathare slums of Nairobi. They are a member of the top division in Kenyan football. Their home stadium is Moi International Sports Centre. The club was formed in 1994 as a professional outfit of the Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA) (which was founded in 1987).
Mathare United won the Kenyan Cup in 1998, when still playing second level football. The club has been in the Kenya Premier League since 1999. It won Kenyan cup second time in 2000.
Extensive youth program by MYSA has produced many Kenyan top players, for example Dennis Oliech. Mathare United's chairman is Bob Munro.
Mathare United's farm team Mathare Youth promoted to the Kenya Premier league in 2005. It now runs as a separate entity.
