From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Matthew Algie (born 1810) is the founder of the Matthew Algie company.
Algie was born in Greenock, Scotland, a port on the River Clyde, in 1810. In 1864 he founded the company that bears his name in Glasgow. It is said that his business nearly went bankrupt when he joined in a business partnership with another trader, but it recovered and became a success generally.
