Matthew Lillard

Matthew Lyn Lillard (born January 24, 1970) is an American actor. His most prominent success is playing "Shaggy" in the films Scooby-Doo (2002) and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed (2004) and its upcoming sequel Scooby Doo 3 (2009).

Lillard was born in Lansing, Michigan, and grew up in Tustin, California. After high school, he was hired as an extra for Ghoulies 3: Ghoulies Go to College (1991). He attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Pasadena, California, with fellow actor Paul Rudd, and later, the theatre school Circle in the Square in New York City.
In the 1990s, Lillard dated actresses Rose McGowan, Neve Campbell and Christine Taylor, prior to his marriage to Heather Helms in 2000. They have two children together: Addison Grace and Macey Lyn.
