Maureen Garrett (born August 18, 1948 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina) is an American actress.
Garrett plays the role of Holly Norris Bauer Thorpe Lindsey Reade on Guiding Light, a character she has played since 1976. For many years, the character of Holly was featured in a psychologically complex story with Roger Thorpe, played by the late Michael Zaslow. Villain Roger had, among other things, raped Holly while they were married. The couple of Roger and Holly is considered one of Guiding Light's most memorable couples.
She speaks German and French. She studied at Universitat München in Germany, and at Temple and Villanova Universities in Pennsylvania, USA.
She has been nominated for three Daytime Emmy awards.
In addition to her role on Guiding Light she also portrayed the character of Elizabeth Jane "EJ" Ryan on Ryan's Hope. She was instrumental in creating a theater company including her GL castmates performing other works.
Though Garrett is still "officially" affiliated with Guiding Light, her character was downgraded to recurring status, and she now appears only rarely, though she did play an important role in a 2005 storyline involving a man who came to Springfield claiming to be Roger Thorpe's son, Sebasitian. She appeared for Ross's funeral in April 2006 after more than a year with no appearance. She has't been seen since.
