Mauricio José Rojas Mullor (June 28, 1950 –) is a Swedish politician and political economist, member of the Riksdag since 2002.
Mauricio Rojas was born in Santiago, Chile. An active socialist in his youth, he fled to Sweden in 1974 following the military coup and the subsequent persecution of leftist activists by the new Pinochet regime. His mother was arrested and tortured, but eventually managed to escape to Sweden too.
Rojas received a Ph.D. in economic history from Lund University in 1986. He has written many books in the field of international economics and on the Swedish model. He has also served as the Vice Managing Director of Timbro, a liberal think tank based in Stockholm.
Rojas was elected as a Member of Parliament in 2002 for the Liberal Party, although he was not a party member at the time. Previously Rojas had been closely affiliated with the Moderate Party, but left that party after some internal conflicts. He became a member of the Liberal People's Party in 2004 when he was appointed as the party's spokesperson on refugee and integration policy. He lost his seat in the Riksdag in the 2006 election, but he took the vacant seat created when Lars Leijonborg became a minister in the new government.
