Max Becker escaped from his abusive father at an early age. He was taken under the protective wing of Frankie, and the two made their way to Salem. They were taken in by kind-hearted Patch and Kayla Johnson and eventually adopted by Shawn and Caroline Brady (legally changing his name to Max Brady). Shortly thereafter, both boys left town.

A decade later, Jennifer Deveraux ran into Max at the racetrack and renewed ties with both him and Frankie. Once back in Salem, Max was immediately drawn to Chelsea Benson. When Chelsea was blamed for the accidental death of Zack Brady, Max stood by her side and kept her dark secret for as long as possible. Max eventually broke up with Chelsea, feeling she was too immature for him. After briefly dating fellow racer Stephanie Johnson, Max is now dating Mimi Lockhart.They are both getting very close and the heat has risen several times.

Max went to his garage to pick up on some behind work where he found Abby. He asked her what she was doing there and she told him she knew he needed her. So thankful for what Abby did he takes her out to dinner without Mimi knowing. Max talks about all of Mimi's trouble and he tells Abby he doosn't know what to do with his life. Abby admits how jealous she was when she rescued Max and Mimi from the basement and saw them kiss. She tells Max she has had a crush on him for a long time. Max admits he liked her when she first started working at the garage but was afraid to ask her out because of there 6 year age difference. Abby says that Max is now with Mimi. Max tells her he knows that he cares about Mimi and wants to be there for her, and that he guesses that Abby and he have missed their chance.
