I agree with all the editor's markings above, and would love assistance researching this artist.
Max Gottschalk (b. ????, d. 2006) is a little-known mid-century modern interior designer who works with leather and "industrial" materials such as steel and aluminum to create furniture in the 1950's through today, living and working in his studio in Tucson, Arizona. He is known as an "industrial designer" as his work continued past the mid-century modern era, much like Harry Bertoia's work. His logo was very distinctive and appears on all his products.
Gottschalk passed away in 2006 and is survived by a brother, a doctor who now owns his estate but has not been located.
His main interest was in combining "natural" materials such as leather with "industrial" materials such as aluminum tubing, steel, and other modern components. Often there are natural stains in things like leather but Gottschalk worked with materials that were less than perfect before being tanned and some times dyed and allowed these imperfects as part of the "natural" aspect of his creations, offsetting his use of "industrial" materials.
