Maya Bond (Japanese: マヤ人〔マヤ語 ボンド) born in 2000 in Osaka, Japan) is a Japanese-born American indie singer-songwriter and drummer from Austin, Texas.
Bond is most notable for her 2004 debut, Pink Drums, Purple Lights, which she is credited for writing all the song lyrics to. Although Bond was never actually signed to Business Deal Records, she is still linked to their roster as an artist. Her debut was released on Ellahy Amen Records in 2004, her official label. The album was produced by Maya, Leila Bela and Bond's father, T.W. Bond.

[edit] Pink Drums, Purple Lights
Pink Drums, Purple Lights was released with eight tracks including Bond’s signature singles "Cute Papa" (a song about her father, T.W. Bond, who is already signed to Business Deal) and "The Ghost Castle" (A little girl who disobeys her father, only to be eaten up by a beast).
In an interview for KEYE-TV, Bond explained that she wanted to create an album of her own after watching her father. Her father is a member of Count Dracula and his Weed Smugglin' Jam Engine, a band signed to the Business Deal Records label. According to the Houston Press, her songs "showcase the wondrous mind of a four-year-old – one that is scatological and delightfully morbid." [1] For example, in the song "The Ghost Castle" an off-key Bond is singing, while being accompanied by an organ backdrop. In other such songs, she is singing about teddy bears, pee, and poop.
[edit] Ellahy Amen Records
In 2004, Bond was signed to Ellahy Amen Records, a fairly new independent avant-garde label created by experimental musician and former Pigface member Leila Bela. Bond recently launched a tour with Bela and was written about in Newsweek Magazine alongside Smoosh, The Muldoons and the Tiny Masters of Today. In the article, Newsweek stated Bond was already a favorite of Gorilla vs. Bear, a popular MP3 blog. [2] [3] "Cute Papa" is also featured on Business Deal’s Top 40 of 2005 compilation. It was also recently added to Gorilla vs. Bear’s best of 2005 mixtape.[4]
